Release 25.06 is now available for your ANYmal! We’ve been hard at work developing new features and enhancements to optimize your ANYmal experience. Here, you’ll find detailed information about what’s new in this release. The technical release notes are here.
Ubuntu 24.04 Upgrade
Starting with Release 25.04, your computer must be running Ubuntu 24.04 Noble to update ANYmal software to a new release. If you haven’t already done so, update your operating system to Ubuntu 24.04 before upgrading to this release.

New Features
Gas Leak and Presence Detection
We’re excited to introduce our new Gas Leak and Presence Detection solution for ANYmal. The system is composed of advanced gas sensors and an acoustic imager to provide real-time insights into gas presence and leaks in your facility.
Gas sensors allow ANYmal to detect and quantify a wide range of hazardous gases, including hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, ammonia, and more. The sensors are modular and configurable, allowing you to swap out sensors depending on the gases you want to detect. The sensors continuously monitor the environment and trigger alerts when levels exceed set thresholds, helping you take action quickly before abnormal concentrations become major problems.
The acoustic imager captures high-frequency sounds generated by gas leaks and mechanical anomalies, allowing ANYmal to detect and locate leaks that might otherwise go unnoticed. You can also quantify the leak’s severity and estimated cost to inform your maintenance strategies.
Inspection data is transmitted to Data Navigator so that you can analyze gas concentrations and leaks from one central location. Whether deployed as a full bundle or in a modular setup, ANYmal’s Gas Leak and Presence Detection solution provides powerful insights into the health of your facility, increases efficiency, and reduces costly downtime.

Single Sign-On and user management in Data navigator
Data Navigator now includes user management functionality that lets administrators control feature access with configurable roles and permissions. Admins can:
- Configure company-wide settings
- Create and manage user accounts, assign roles, and control feature access with configurable permissions
- Edit user information, reset passwords, and deactivate user accounts
All user management is done via Settings, accessible from Data Navigator’s bottom-left corner.
Additionally, Data Navigator now supports Single Sign-On (SSO). On first login, users must enter their name and, optionally, upload a profile picture before completing their profile. Users without assigned roles will not have access to any features in Data Navigator until an admin grants them permissions.

Improvements
Inspection intelligence improvements
Introduced a new model that makes ANYmal better at detecting analog gauges and measuring their values. Additionally, we’ve introduced a new default behavior when ANYmal fails to detect an object. To improve efficiency, ANYmal now doesn’t retry failed object detections. You can restore the old behavior by adjusting the number_of_detector_retries
and number_of_interpreter_calls
settings in your ~/.ros/config.yaml
file.
Higher-quality video streams
Significantly improved the quality of video streams from ANYmal’s wide angle, zoom, and thermal cameras. This update also reduces the load on the robot’s computer, improving overall performance.
API simplification and performance improvements
We’ve simplified how ANYmal communicates with the tablet and backend services. The old ADS-based API system has been removed and replaced with a more modern and reliable communication method. This change improves performance and reduces complex setup, especially in environments with unstable network connections.
As part of this update, you can now disable data synchronization using the data-synchronization
feature toggle. Disabling this functionality doesn’t impact the robot’s performance.
